Proof of Concept:

For the sake of due diligence, it has been necessary to carry out a computational fluid dynamics simulation to provide the necessary capabilities regarding oil flow, heat build-up, pressure loadings on bearings and the cam, etc. Full transparency will be illustrated to all collaborators and share purchasers.
Proof of concept is based on a Volkswagen Beetle 1600 cc engine and the transmission from a Volkswagen 411/412.
The engine and all the ancillaries have been thoroughly cleaned and refinished where necessary; the engine is being partly rebuilt by Ashley Hodge of Hailsham, East Sussex. Ashley found 3 pushrods were damaged, and replacements were supplied FOC by Luke Theocharis of Terry’s Beetle Services, Hanwell, West London. Further, Luke supplied the lost gland adapter for the alternator to the impeller and the fixing nut and washer, for which we are very grateful.
The cam profile as defined by Jim Nelms is to provide a smoother profile than the heart shape to reduce noise and vibrations.
Cam finalised by John Lumley of PDB Engineering Services Ltd. The cam design has been created such that it will be fully balanced and housed in an oil bath as above.
